Jeff Garber began his musical journey rooted in the vibrant indie-rock scene. He fronted Castor, the Champaign-Urbana-based outfit known for shifting time signatures with effortless flow.
Their two albums—Castor (1995) and Tracking Sounds Alone (1998)—still resonate among fans of ’90s emo and indie rock.
Garber then moved through several projects, including National Skyline and Year of the Rabbit. As the singer, guitarist, and songwriter, National Skyline released National Skyline and This = Everything, along with the EP Exit Now. Along with Ken Andrews of Failure, Year of the Rabbit released the eponymous debut album in 2002.
Transitioning from band work to soundtrack composer, Jeff has made a significant mark in television. Currently, he composes for Netflix’s hit series Virgin River and the upcoming second season of the docuseries Full Swing. His other credits span major shows like Nancy Drew, Pretty Smart, The Company You Keep, and Lopez, plus trailer work for Marvel’s Daredevil. He’s also contributed as an assistant composer on projects such as The Royals, Runaways, and ABC’s The Kids Are Alright.
Jeff Garber is a relentless creator—spinning through genres, mediums, and collaborative roles with ease. From indie rock underground to Netflix’s top streams, his musical DNA is marked by evolution, versatility, and a deep commitment to making sound that resonates.
