Dauzat St. Marie

A partnership in life and music, Dauzat St. Marie channels alt-rock roots into intimate, harmony-rich songs with a backbone.

Dauzat St. Marie (pronounced dō-zaht saynt mah-ree) is the husband-and-wife duo of Mat Dauzat and Heather St. Marie, a pair who can strip a song down to its bones and still make it hit you square in the chest.

What began as the alt-rock-leaning Hydrovibe (yep, the same band from the Saw III soundtrack) but ditched the volume wars for something sharper: acoustic-forward, harmony-drunk, folk-Americana with a backbone.

Their debut EP Falling Again set the tone—folk-Americana with grit, heart, and zero filler. Since then, they’ve been relentless road warriors, playing their own headlining gigs in addition to opening for likes of Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo, Rick Springfield, and REO Speedwagon.

Viral moments followed. Their 2020 single “Common Ground” crossed a million YouTube views, and not because of the algorithim, but because it was good - so good that it landed on Now That’s What I Call Music Vol. 75.

Heather’s breast cancer diagnosis and recovery inspired the deeply personal “In It Together,” which became part of an American Cancer Society awareness campaign.

Beyond the duo, Mat’s guitar work has taken him around the globe with Seal’s 30th Anniversary World Tour—and under Trevor Horn’s watchful eye, he pulled double duty by also playing with the openers The Buggles.

Of course, they continue to record and release their own work like 2025’s “Burn” and explore side projects—including a moody, Southern soul–style cover of Seal’s “Crazy.”

Dauzat St. Marie is intimate but never precious, emotional without being sappy, expansive without losing the map—this is music for midnight highways, cramped bars, and the exact moment you realize you need someone to sing you through it.

This is our conversation with Heather and Mat of Dauzat St. Marie.
